Network Expert

Owen Temple is a product manager and multidisciplinary practitioner working at the intersection of data science, psychology, and the narrative arts. He holds a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and dual bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Plan II Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. His scientific and technical work has included published research in Spine on psychiatric comorbidity in chronic pain, applied data science projects modeling municipal emergency response times, and the use of Natural Language Processing to study the linguistic structure of persuasion and meaning-making. Across his technical career, he has focused on integrating human context, narrative understanding, and analytical rigor in complex systems. Alongside this work, Temple is a longtime songwriter and visual artist. As founder of El Paisano Records, he has released more than 20 albums and maintains a songwriting catalog featured on dozens of recordings. His creative practice explores intergenerational continuity—how stories, values, and memory are carried forward through song, image, and place—as well as transcendence through attention to ordinary moments. His recent watercolor work often develops in parallel with his music, extending songs into visual meditations on impermanence, dignity, and shared human inheritance. Temple is the author of Songfarmer, which frames creativity as a practice of daily cultivation balancing intuitive “flow” with reflective “edit,” a philosophy he also applies to product development and organizational design. Temple serves as a Board Trustee of the T.L.L. Temple Foundation, focused on rural development in East Texas, and chairs the board of The History Center in Diboll. He lives in Austin with his wife of 26 years and their four children.
